4 out of 10 or 12 today

6/24/2008
Fishing was good along the beach today and we were the only boat in sight all day. Landed 4 up to 150 pounds and fought or lost another half dozen. Did I mention that we were the only boat on the coast? You know I love that.

More tarpon highlights

Well let see, in the past week we have had a 30 snook and 4 tarpon day, landed numerous snook while fighting a tarpon, put a guy on a 20x20 foot sand island to fight his tarpon which had a manatee escort it to the beach, broken a rod on a fish, fought a big tarpon thru a nasty thunderstorm, fished the beach without seeing another boat for 2 days, busted up the boat, hooked a double header on the beach on two different baits at the same time, and dipped a couple hundred crabs at the pass. There was much more but thats what comes to mind at the moment.

An extremely rare albino tarpon, a 200 pound beast, and a 3 1/2 hour battle ends on the shore.

Wow, this is why we come here. The past few weeks have been epic adventures every day. JUst a few that I can think of; the only albino tarpon I have ever heard of let alone seen. There is only one specimen in a museum that was caught in 1899 known to exist. It was the most amazing fish I have ever seen. Bright orange back, white sides, and several black spots in its side. It jumped off before I could get a photo. I cant stop thinking about it. Truly a once in a lifetime event.

Today we caught a poon over 200 pounds. It took 2 horus 45 minutes to land. Two days ago we fought one for 3 and a half hours which pulled us thru a bridge and that I jumped in to wrestly 3 times before finally beaching it along the Boca Grande Causeway. He weighed abotu 180.

Yesterday we hooked a line while casting at a pod off a remore beach. I quickly tied it to a rod we had and it was "fish on". Landed a 100 pounder with someone else Yozuri lure in its mouth.

TARPON SEASON IS ROCKIN'!

5/10/2008

I am way behind in reports here but thought Id make apost about how the seaon is going. It is GREAT! The weather has been kinda iffy, windwise anyway, but we have been dealing with it. Seldom do we find the fish in the same place twice but we have found them every day and some days we have been really slayin' em.

A few highlights; late nite hill tide action, a wide open bite in Captiva Pass, good action on the flats of PIne Island sound, killer tarpon fishing 5 miles off Boca Grande, and some other things Id rather keep to myslef for now...

I have some great pics Ill put up here soon. Stay tuned.....
